Detty December 2025 is officially over and wow, it was massive.
Despite all the hardship in 2025, Nigerians showed the world how we celebrate. Diaspora returned in numbers never seen before. Money sprayed. Lagos turned into one non-stop party from December 1 to 31.
What Made 2025 Special
This year felt different:
- More diaspora returnees than ever airports packed from November
- Afrobeats stars like Burna, Wizkid, Rema, Asake performing back-to-back
- Concerts sold out in minutes ticket prices hit record highs
- Beach parties, street carnivals, wedding season on steroids
- Even churches had "December to Remember" programs with guest artists
- New York Times wrote about it: "Lagos becomes one giant celebration"
The Reality Behind the Vibes
Yes, traffic was hell. Prices doubled. Some spent money they didn't have.
But in tough times, we choose joy. Detty December reminded us: no matter the economy, Nigerians will find a way to celebrate life.
Now January 1... back to campus, back to hustle. But the memories remain.
